Environmental Policy - Protecting the Queensland ecosystem

At Tropicana Banana, growing premium quality bananas without compromising the rich biodiversity of the Queensland ecosystem is our mission. The stunning Queensland environment has areas that are world heritage listed and this beautiful and fertile land sustains our bananas, our economy and our culture.

The Tropicana Code of Environmental Production has been developed to meet accreditation requirements and guarantee consistent environmental monitoring and protection methods across all our properties. Together with Freshcare codes of practice and local environmental management plans for each farm, the Tropicana Environmental code is central to our staff training program and performance management system. We make sure that all our people know how to care for the environment and understand why it’s so important.

Looking after rainforests, wetlands and waterways on Tropicana properties is just as important as preserving the fertility and soil structure of our farmland. At every property we assess potential risks and develop environmental management plans for:

  • Land and soil
  • Water
  • Chemicals and nutrients
  • Biodiversity
  • Waste
  • Air
  • Energy

With sustainability at the top of our agenda, you can be sure that when you buy Tropicana, it’s better for flavour and quality and better for the environment.
