MARKET ACTIVITY
Supply & Demand
Overall trading was fair this week, with the two major chain stores going on special, this hotted up competition with the independents. Overall banana arrivals were heavier this week with the increase being off market and the actual arrivals recorded on the market stands were lighter than last week.
Retail Prices
Retail tickets ranged from $0.67 to $2.99 around Sydney & most sales were from $1.48 to $1.99. Certain Chain stores were promoting at $0.99.
Next Weeks Outlook
After talking to most of our Tropicana growers, I believe overall arrival numbers coming into the markets over the weekend are going to be up. I assume the market will kick back a little.
Quality
Dullness and graying due to the cold growing conditions in Qld continued to be the major inhibitor to sales.
